Where is ras located in the cell?

Ras is a protein located in the cytoplasm (the part of the cell that surrounds the nucleus). Along with other proteins it participates in regulation of cellular growth. In some cancers RAS is mutated, why drugs targetting the growth-regulation in which RAS participates are ineffective in those cancers.
