What do you think of bidets in bathrooms - useful or unnecessary?

I am thining of removing the bidet from my bathroom - I hate it and always have. I hae always thought the bidet (1). blocks up space in the bathroom, (2). Is unnecessary - no one needs a bumwasher in the household, (3). - and because it is bumwasher - is a crude, nasty and unnecessary contraption. Others think we should keep it and that it is useful / cly bathroom element that adds value to a house. (I dont think it adds value at all).
